Mullingar Park Hotel

Mitel

The Mullingar Park Hotel is s stunning new 4 star property located right on the N4 about 1 hour away from Dublin. The hotel is perfect for both the business client as well as the leisure seeker. There are a total of 95 guestrooms at the Mullingar Park Hotel as well as a number of Conferance suites and facilities. From the outset this Mullingar hotel was custom-designed for business, conferences, weddings and leisure customers.

Customer Needs

The hotel had an exisiting Mitel SX2000 Micro-light with a standalone voicemail system . The capacity of the MicroLight had been exceeded which meant that areas which could benifit from telephony services were unable to have them. A requirement to provide voice services to the Conferancing suites meant that the time was right to review the telecommunication deployment within the hotel to cope with the immeadiate requirement and equally to look towards the future. Given any Hotel resilence on communications, fault tolerance and resilence were areas that were also very important and needed some enhanements.

Solution.

AMCert proposed the Mitel seemless migration path to IP. This proposed replacing the existing Micro-light with a Mitel 3300 IP communications platform. All the existing cards and sets from the existing system would be redeployed in the new 3300 ICP solution apart from the operators console which was replaced with a much more user friendly and feature rich PC based 5550 model. This PC would be used to interface to the PMS solution provide by Micros Fidelio. Additional capacity require would be provided by additional IP and traditional digitial/analogue telephony depending on the existing cabling infrasture to the areas requiring service. Year 1 support on both the existing redeployed equipment and the new IP based equipment was included.

Deployment

The existing SX2000 MicroLight was replaced with a Mitel 3300 MXe IP platform. To address the client's resilence concerns this was further equipped with the dual hard drive, RAID and dual power supply options. Peripheral cabinets were disconnected from the Micro-LIght and connected to FIMs (Fibre Interface modules) on the 3300 ICP Mxe via fiber optic cables. Eircom's Primary Rate ISDN lines were connected directly to the 3300 MXe. The entire client's database was then upgraded to the 3300 MXe and the MicroLIght was removed. To increase capacity additional Digital and Analogue cards were installed together with RJ45 patching frames to ensure future Moves and changes could be easily accommodated.

New call handling arrangements were put in place for groups such as sales, conferencing and marketing. Message handling performance was significantly enhanced by using the embedded Voice mail application on the 3300 for all administrive staff. An 5550 IP console was installed at the front desk making the entire call handling process far more user friendly and intuitive. This consule was also used to facilitate the link to the PMS system meaning seemless integration between the front of house and telephone system. Mitel's Traditional to IP migration strategy meant that the client's intial investment in Mitel equipment was maximised and the downtime required to install the new solution was under one hour.
